A story from our past

With Glen Campbell

Randy's Mom, Sisters, Niece, and daughter with Glenn Campbell
with Glenn Campbell

Just thought I’d give you a little peek at a great moment in time. Here is a picture of Glen Campbell, only the most famous singer song writer, guitar player in all of modern history. He still managed to take time out of his busy schedule to give a big hug to my family back stage at the Moon River Theatre where my wife Sue and I were performing with Andy Williams. We had a break for a few minutes between shows and here came Glen and was delighted to take a picture with my Mother Marian Leiter from Charlotte, my Sister Vicki Hill from Charlotte, My niece Tina Brayton also from Charlotte, My sister Diane Goodnoe from Eaton Rapids and my daughter Maryann Leiter Riveros went to school in Charlotte before going on tour with her family across the US and ultimately ended up in Branson Missouri.

This picture is of Sue and I and The great Glen Campbell back stage at Andy Williams Moon River Theater. What makes this picture more special than any picture we have ever taken is this. While Glen was performing at the theatre with his eldest daughter Debby Campbell-Cloyd, my wife Sue and Debby became friends. Then this particular evening, between shows, Glen came in and ask me if Sue and I had a picture of ourselves that we could autograph for him. Wow, we wanted Glen to autograph his picture for us (which he did) but, if you look closely at Glens right hand, you will see him holding the picture of Sue and I which we indeed autographed for him. Besides the fact that this was one of the coolest moments for us in our lives, in that moment, Glen made us feel like we were celebrities instead of himself. Then a few years later, (like just in the past few months), Sue and I have reached out to Glen’s daughter Debbie and she would like to come up to West Branch to do a concert for us and present her new book about her life growing up with her dad. We really want this to happen, however we would need to find some some sponsors’ who could offset the cost of Air fair, lodging etc. So, if anyone is willing and able to help with this project. Please contact Sue or myself and we can fill you in on all the details.

PS: the other funny but great part of this story is that while Sue and I and our girls were playing music all across the country, one evening we stopped to fill up our bus with gas and guess whos motorhome filled with musicians and equipment pulled up right beside us???? Yes, you guessed it, It was Glens Band. And their, we exchanged pleasantries, photos and business cards.

Who would have ever thought that we would all be working together in Branson Missouri at Andy Williams Theatre years later.

Somedays I think of all the little things that became so big just because we were in the right place at the right time. Hope you like it.
